A man who deliberately infected a woman with HIV has been charged.

A man was on Monday charged before a Nairobi court for allegedly deliberately infecting a woman with HIV contrary to the law.

According to the law it is an offense under section 26 of the sexual offences Act to deliberately infect someone with HIV.

T.K.C was arraigned before Milimani Law Courts magistrate Benard Ochoi where he denied the charge.

He is accused to have transmitted the killer virus to an unsuspecting woman by having unprotected sexual conduct with her.

According to the prosecution, on diverse dates between October 2022 and June 30, 2023, having knowledge that he was infected with HIV disease, he intentionally, knowingly and willfully had unprotected sexual intercourse with the lady knowing that the act would infect her with the virus.

The prosecution has opposed his release on bail and further asked the court to hear the matter in camera due to the sensitive nature of the case.

Magistrate Ochoi allowed the application by prosecution to hear the matter in camera.

The case will be mentioned on February 20, 2024
