A man who scalded his ex-wife with hot water on her back and arms leading to 50 percent burns on the body has been charged.
Dalmas Mukhanga was arraigned before a Kibera Law courts where he denied the charge of grievous harm.
According to the charge sheet, on September 29 at Kawangware area within Nairobi County Mukhanga caused grievous harm that led to permanent injuries to his wife Velma Khasungu.
According to the court records, the man had allegedly invited his wife to go the house so that they could discuss about their daughter’s graduation.
However, during the meeting a disagreement ensued and in the midst of it, Mukhanga beat his wife and later took a jug a boiling water and poured it on her back and arms
The wife was rushed to the hospital where she was attended to after the all edged attack that left her with permanent injuries on her back and arms.
Mukhanga asked chief Magistrate Ann Mwangi to release him on reasonable bail terms but even though the prosecution did not object, they asked the court to grant tough bond terms due to the seriousness of the offence.
He was released on a bond of Sh 300,000 with a surety of the same amount.
