A man who was arrested in Ruaka with cocaine valued at Sh 1.1 million was on Wednesday arraigned before the JKIA court and charged with drug trafficking.
Julius Karumo Njuguna appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Njeri Thuku and denied the charge.
It was alleged that on March 13 at Slaughter area in Ruaka within Kiambu County with others not before court, he trafficked 284 grams of cocaine valued at Sh 1,136,000 by conveying it in a Black Honda.
Njuguna through his lawyer Danstan Omari asked the court to release him on reasonable bail terms pending hearing of his case.
In her ruling Magistrate Thuku granted him bail saying the prosecution had not given any compelling reasons to deny him bail.
He was released on a Sh 500,000 bail and a surety of a similar amount, further the court directed him to also provide 2 contact persons and deposit his passport in court.
The court also ordered him to provide a letter from the area Chief confirming his relationship with his family members at the next hearing date.
Njuguna is also require to report to JKIA probation office and Probation report to be filed in court before 22 April 2024
The case will be mentioned on April 9 for pre-trial.
