A man suspected to be a member notorious robbery gang in the city charged in court for being found in illegal possession of firearm.
Kojo Odera was arraigned before a Nairobi court and denied the count of being found in possession of the firearm.
It was alleged on May 17, 2024 for being in possession of ammunition without a firearm certificate contrary to section 3 of the Penal Code.
According to police report, Odera was arrested at Mirema drive in Kasarani within Nairobi where without any reasonable excuse was found in possession of 10 rounds of ammunition of 9mm, 0ne round ammunition of 7.62 by 39m special calibre.
Police further claim that the said ammunitions raised reasonable presumption that Odera intended to use them in a manner prejudicial to public order.
It is also alleged that Odera was in possession of imitation firearm with an intent to commit an offence.
He was further charged with obtaining Sh 60,000 from a victim namely John Waithaka by falsely pretending he would facilitate his son’s employment at the Kenya Wildlife Service.
He denied the charges and was released on a bond of Sh 200,000 with an alternative cash bail of Sh 100,000.
