The appeal court judges have urged Inspector General Douglas Kanja and DCI Mohammed Amin to locate those people that are still missing and believed to have been abducted.
In the case, Kanja and Amin have appealed the ruling by Justice Chacha Mwita which reiterated that they must appear in court in the habeas corpus case filed by LSK seeking for their release.
Justice Paul Kiage asked the police to find the missing persons as soon as possible.
“Respondents, find these Kenyans. I mean, just find them. We need to know their whereabouts,” judge Kiage urged
The judge directed that the appeal be fast-tracked and concluded before the end of the court term.
Lawyer Paul Nyamodi for the two police bosses had asked the court to stay the matter before Justice Mwita arguing that it would be unfair if it proceeds.
He argued that Justice Chacha Mwita’s order on habeas corpus implied that the missing individuals were in the custody of the IG, which is the basis of the appeal.
However, the IG compromised on the application for a stay of proceedings to focus on the appeal.
