A Police officer attached to Parliament and suspected to have killed a fellow officer and injured another officer after a shooting incident has been detained for five days to allow police complete investigations
PC Limo Kosgey Nahashon was arrested after he allegedly shot two police officers at Gigiri police station canteen on the night of March 9, 2025.
Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina issued an order allowing DCI to detain the police officer who is suspected to have murdered his colleague police officer under unclear circumstances.
Kosgey has told Court that his life is in danger as he has been threatened with dire consequences by his colleagues.
In the matter, it is alleged that the Kosgey went rogue while in possession of a fireman shooting two police officers with one of them succumbing to the gun wound while the other was admitted in hospital.
The suspect was arraigned under a miscellaneous application where the Investigators were seeking to detain him pending conclusion of the investigations before forwarding the file to the ODPP for further directions.
DCI had informed the court that investigations in the shooting are not yet over as one of the witnesses who was shot and injured during the incident is admitted at Agha Khan Hospital.
However, the defence lawyer objected to the 21 days detention order application saying that the suspect was threatened while leaving Gigiri police station to court hence sending him back to the same police cells would be sending him back to a torture chamber.
The police officer through his Lawyer told court he is an innocent man who has not been subjected to trial.
” Your honour, before you is an innocent man who has not given his side of the story, before you is an innocent man who even if he’s charged with the murder, will mount a defence to warrant his exoneration” said the defence.
The court ruled that the prosecution had proved that there was sufficient grounds to allow a pretrial detention to give police officers sufficient time to conclude their investigations.
