Former Nyamira CEC Health Timothy Ombati got major relief after the high court suspended DCI letter summoning him over alleged loss of drugs in the county.
Justice Wilfrida Okwany on Thursday allowed the application by Ombati seeking to stop the investigation agency from summoning him.
“Leave to operate as stay of the decision/any action by the Respondents communicated vide the letter dated 27th September 2023,” the court ruled.
In the case, Ombati had challenged the decision by the DCI to summon him to appear over alleged loss of drugs.
The DCI had had written a letter summoning Ombati among other officials to appear before the Nyamira office for questioning.
Through lawyer Danstan Omari, Ombati says since he was sacked and MCA’s tried to impeach Governor Amos Nyaribo, he has been going through intimidation.
Nyaribo fired Ombati for allegedly lying to him that he had supplied drugs to the whole county yet he had not thus embarrassing him.
Lawyer Shadrack Wambui has told court that the DCI is abusing his powers by summoning Ombati and should be stopped.
