Former Journalist Moses Dola who was sentenced to 10 years behind bars for killing his wife a fellow journalist is now a free man after a judge released him following a successful review.
Justice Alexander Muteti on Thursday granted his application for review and further directed the prison department to release him immediately unless he is being held on other legal grounds.
Dola expressed gratitude to the judge and stated his hope of appearing before him again after completing law school.
Dola was convicted for manslaughter and sentence to a 10-year sentence for killing of his wife, Sarah Wambui Kabiru a fellow journalist in 2011.
The court found him guilty of manslaughter in 2018 ruling that Wambui died following a domestic altercation at their home in Nairobi. Dola later surrendered to authorities after initially going into hiding.
Dola has pursued legal studies and is currently enrolled in law school, a move he has described as part of his personal transformation.
