Four alleged members of Bunge La Mwananchi were arraigned before a Nairobi court on Friday and charged with being found in possession of explosives during the Nane Nane protests.
The four, who are also said to be close associates of businessman Jimmi Wanjigi, denied the charges before Magistrate Rose Ndombi.
According to the charge sheet, Duncan Odhiambo Otieno, Calvin Ochieng, Kennedy Ochieng, and Joshua Augo Otimo were arrested on August 8, 2024, in possession of dangerous weapons.
The state claims they were found with smoke grenades under circumstances that suggested they were armed to commit a felony.
They were also charged with going armed with explosive canisters in a public place in a manner likely to cause terror to the public.
The accused persons denied the charges and were each released on a Sh 300,000 bond with an alternative cash bail of Sh 100,000.
