Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza’s lawyer Danstan Omari put up a spirited fight to clear her name before the County Assembly on Wednesday.
Making his submissions before the house, Omari said his client is not guilty of any offense as has been alleged by the MCAs.
Omari asked whether Kawira is a signatory to the tender process further asking if a Governor is involved anywhere in the tender process and whether at the opening and award stage.
“So are we punishing the governor for collective punishment or individual,” Omari asked
On Issues about Makiri okolea rally, he said no evidence has placed before the house to show that funds were used in the project.
“The question is a governor parse executive does she also carry the cloth of a politician,At what stage do you say this is the executive Governor and this is the elected leader,” Omari asked.
Omari said Kawira has not been charged and there is no charge sheet to show that she was culpable of any offense at Makiri.
“The governor is a bishop so her saying tutapambana Kiroho is not an offense I don’t know why it offended anybody,” he said
On the issue of nepotism, Omari said Kawira has not employed her relatives as alleged saying the only people close to her are her bodyguard who she needed someone she trusted.
