Six people who were charged with the murder of former MP George Thuo have all been found guilty of his murder.
Over 10 years after his death the court finally issued judgement and convicted the six for murder.
The six are Paul Wainaina Boiyo, Christopher Lumbasio Andika, Andrew Karanja Wainaina, Samuel Kuria Ngugi, Esther Ndinda Mulinge and Ruth Vanessa Irungu.
In her judgement, Justice Roselyne Korir ruled the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt against the six persons.
Justice Korir said the prosecution had proved its arguement that traces of pestcide was found in Thuo body thereby dismissing the allegations that he might have been poisoned somewhere else.
Thuo died after his drink was poisoned at Pokies club in Thika in 2013.
The court also said that it had noted that Boiyo,Andika, Wainaina and Ngugi sat with the MP on the material date and that no evidence was given to the court to show that they left the table meaning they had an opportunity to tamper with his drink.
The court further dismissed the submissions by Ruth Irungu who claimed that she bought the MP a drink as a sign of friendship.
According to her defense, she went to Porkies looking for change of Sh 1000 note and thereafter saw the Mp so she went there hugged him before buying a drink.
But the judge questioned her motive and wondered whether the hug was a Judas hug referring it to “kikulacho kinguoni mwako,”.
“Was the hug by Irungu the Judas kiss? evidence showed that she was a regular customer and she would be given the change even without buying a drink for the MP,” the judge ruled.
Sentencing will be on May 3
