The Director of Public Prosecutions(ODPP) has informed court that the investigations into the murder of Campbell Scott, a British tourist murdered in Kenya in February 2025 has been completed and file forwarded to the DPP for review.

Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina was informed that the investigation file was forwarded to the DPP on Friday 21, March 2025 for perusal and directions.

But the DPP has yet to issue the directions on the way forward whether to charge the suspects who has been in police cells for the last 21 days with murder or not.

In the case, the case Alex Mutua Kithuka and Albunus Mutinda Nzioki are suspected to have lured the British national to a house in Pipeline belonging to Alex Mutua where investigators believe he was killed before his body was discarded in Makueni County.

The body was discovered by a local herder grazing goats near Makongo Forest along the Machakos-Wote Road.

Authorities found the victim bound at the hands and legs, placed inside a green nylon sack, and dumped in a ditch about 500 meters from Makongo Forest Viewpoint. The herder immediately reported the matter to the local chief, who alerted Mukuyuni Police Station.

Detectives also uncovered multiple withdrawal attempts from the victim’s bank accounts in Nairobi, Voi, and Mombasa, raising suspicions of a financial motive behind the killing.

As investigations intensified, police arrested the two key suspects along the Nairobi-Machakos Road on March 1, 2025.

The case will be mentioned on March 25,2025 to confirm directions from the DPP.
