Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KERRA) has suspended Daniel Wambua who was in the headlines last month for fundraising over 21 million to pay dowry for his fiancée.
In a suspension letter dated September 12, KERRA wrote to Wambua informing him that they were suspending him pending outcome of his court case in which EACC have accused him of being corrupt.
In the case before court, EACC obtained orders freezing Wambua’s 21 million which they claim he got it from proceeds of crime.
However, Wambua is his response to court has told court that the money was for paying dowry for his fiancée and was fundraised through a WhatsApp group.
But Wambua’s employer says they are aware that he is investigated on allegations of economic crimes of stealing from them which may amount to corruption.
“You will hand over all your duties, responsibilities and institutional assets under your custody to CPA Matilda Wakere, Deputy Director Finance who on a separate communication has been informed of the same” the letter reads.
KERRA says the suspension shall remain in place until the conclusion of the investigations and the court proceedings.
Wambua is also required to report to the Director General of KERRA from time to time as it will be directed and his house address should not change as that’s where they will be contacting him from.
Wambua has been advised to cooperate with the investigation agencies that are investigating his case.
