A man who is believed to be the mastermind of giving forged land lease documents to unsuspecting citizens in the country has been charged at Milimani law court.
Brian Otiende Anyanga was arraigned appeared before chief magistrate Susan Shitubi where he denied charges of conspiracy to defraud Sh 553,550 among other forgery cases.
It is alleged that in October jointly with another already in court, he conspired to defraud Twalib Musa Obuya Sh 553,550 by falsely pretending that he was in a position to secure two certificates of lease for two parcels of land in Nairobi at the state department of Lands and Physical Planning.
The court heard that he made the two false certificates of lease bearing the names of Twalib Musa with intention to defraud him.
He faced with other charges of forgery contrary to section 313 of the Penal Code.
The prosecution asked court to deny the suspect bond stating that they fear he is likely to abscond and continue committing other offences.
Lawyer Collins Mbanda strongly denies opposed the plea by the prosecution to deny the accused bond citing that it is his constitutional right unless there are compelling reasons,
The lawyer further told the court that the accused has another same criminal matter in a different court, and he has not absconded.
The magistrate ordered anyanga to be detained in Capital Hill Police Station until December 18, 2024, when he will rule on whether to deny him bond or not.
