Nairobi Lawyer who defrauded his client Sh 26 M charged

A City Lawyer who obtained Sh 26 million from his client by lying to her that he would use it to file a civil case has been charged.

David Chege Mboche was on Tuesday charged with obtaining money by false pretence and conspiracy to defraud

It is alleged that on diverse dates between February 1 2022 and July 30 this year with another before court they obtained Sh 26,075,000 from Marrianne Kamau by falsely pretending that they were in conduct of non-existing civil case and it was for filing fees.

Chege appeared before Principal Magistrate Benmark Ekhubi and pleaded with the court to grant him reasonable bail terms.

Ekhubi released him on a Sh 1 million bond or an alternative cash bail of Sh 500,000.

The case will be mentioned on August 24.
