Lawyer Danstan Omari now says that Pastor Ezekiel Odero’s church New Life Church is still in operation and congregants can still attend it.
Omari was issuing a press conference after a gazette notice was published cancelling registration of the church.
Speaking to the press, Omari said they have already filed an appeal with the Attorney General challenging the decision by the registrar of societies Maria Nyariki.
He assured members of the church that theyb could still attend services as usual as they wait for the AG to respond to their letter of appeal.
Omari further said the decision was malicious and made in bad faith questioning why the gazette notice was issued today and yet the cancellation was done in May.
“Notices to close has never been served, no notice to show cause has been issued as provided by the rules as required by the constitution,” Omari said.
Omari further accused the state of persecuting his client but he vowed that as his legal team they will not relent until the registration is reinstated.
He also claimed that the church is yet to file their annual returns because their file has been missing and they have written over 20 letters but it has never been produced.
