Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo’s luck seems to be running out as 28 out of 34 MCA’s append their signatures for his removal from office.
The motion for his removal from office will be officially tabled for debate in the assembly on Tuesday next week.
One of the major reasons that the MCA’s are seeking to impeach him is for not performing his mandate.
The impeachment debate began days after the governor sacked Health CEC Timothy Ombati for what he said was embarrassing him before the public.
While addressing journalists on Thursday at the County Assembly, Deputy Majority Leader and Township Ward MCA Duke Masira said they are only performing their mandate in seeking to impeach him.
While submitting their signatures to the Assembly Clerk Daniel Orina, the MCAs said there is no witch hunt in their quest to impeach Nyaribo but it for the betterment of the devolution
“We are not fighting anyone. We want a governor who can make Nyamira look like other Counties in terms of development. We have been allocating a lot of resources to this County but we cannot tell what they have done. All we need is service and that is why we want our governor to rest so that someone else can help him,” Masira said.
Kiabonyoru ward MCA Vincent Benecha also supported Masira saying the County is stuck in terms of development.
“For our County to develop, we must rise and stop corruption. We need leaders who have Nyamira people at heart, not their own desires,” Benecha said.
Bonyamatuta Ward MCA Julius Matwere said the residents are questioning service delivery being offered in the county.
Nominated MCAs Doris Nyamanga and Abigael Matini said if Nyaribo defends himself and is found clean, they will not have a problem with him.
Further adding that if he cannot account for what he has done with the public resources, then he should be ready to park and go.
