Relief for Wanjigi as High Court Bars DPP from Charging Him

Businessman cum politician Jimmi Wajingi got temporary relief on Thursday after the high court issued orders barring the Director of Public Prosecutions from charging Jimi Wanjigi.

Wajingi was in the lower court in the morning for a ruling on whether he should take plea for being in possession of explosives among other charges.

However, the orders of the high court were issued as the lower court was in session meaning the court had to down its tools.

Justice Bahati Mwamuye issued the order barring the DPP from instituting any criminal charges or continuing any criminal prosecution against Wajingi relating to the subject matter of the petition.

and for added clarity the petitioner shall not take plea before the subordinate court during his appearance of 26/09/2024…” the order reads.

Wanjigi was arrested and arraigned in Court in August 2024 where the prosecution intended to charge him with being in possession of firearms without a license.

Wajingi has since gotten several orders preventing arresting, charging and or prosecution him.
