An SDA elder has challenged today’s public participation hearings on removal of DP Rigathi Gachagua saying thousands of SDA followers will not go as they will be in church.
Samson Nyaberi an SDA elder at Ruai church asked the court to stop the hearings pending hearing of the matter.
“Petitioner is concerned that his and all other Kenyan SDA followers will be greatly disenfranchised and discriminated against if the hearings are held on Saturday which is their holy day dedicated to prayer and church activities,” reads court papers.
Through lawyer Danstan Omari, Nyaberi says he is apprehensive that if the issue is not immediately addressed, SDA members will be locked out of the public participation proceedings and their views concerning this monumental process will not be accounted for.
“Additionally, there is an urgent need for this Honourable Court to issue preservatory orders or reliefs to safeguard the sovereign will of the people of Kenya through the issuance of conservatory orders before making a determination,” reads court papers
