Six friends of the KERRA employee Daniel Wambua whose Sh 21 M was frozen by court have now come out to support his claim that the money was meant for dowry payment.
In affidavits sworn to support his case, the six say they were indeed in a WhatsApp group and contributed money for the ceremony.
Henry Nzuki who says he has been friends with Daniel Wambua for over 10 years says he got a call from him informing him about his dowry payment.
He was part of the organizing committee and was part of the team that formed the Whatsapp group that fundraised for the ceremony.
“A Whatsapp group was formed so that all the friends and family members can make their contribution. We were hoping to raise over Kshs 25,000,000 for the event,” Nzuki says.
Nzuki says as a friend he contributed Sh 140,000 which was made on diverse dates not at once.
Florence Mbuvi who is the same chama as Wambua has also confirmed that she contributed Sh 100,000 towards the ceremony.
She has vouched for him saying they know him as an honest and hardworking person.
“I verily believe to be true that Daniel had plans to pay dowry and that is why he called upon his friends to help with the contributions,” Mbuvi said.
Cornelius Mulinge who was also in the organising committee said he contributed a total of Sh 50,000 for his friend.
James Kivuva who is Wambua’s Childhood friend said he was also in the committee and made a personal contribution of Sh 100,000.
Kivuva has also dismissed allegations that he is Wambua’s proxy because he deposited some cash in the frozen account. He says the money he deposited were cash contributions received by the committee from friends.
Mathias Matheka who was also in the committee says he has known Wambua for over 17 years and contributed Sh 10,000.
On his part Simon Muia also a friend to Wambua says he was the chairman of the dowry committee and he pledged Sh 200,000 which he paid in instalments.
