Subsidized fertilizer fraud case set to proceed in September this year.

The case where several people have been charged with conspiring to defraud the state over Sh 7 M from subsidized fertilizer will now proceed in September.

The case was mentioned on Wednesday before trial magistrate Susan Shitubi for pre-trial.

Lawyer Danstan Omari who represents Hillary Samoei who is one of the accused confirmed to court that he had been supplied with all the necessary documents that will be used during the trial.

The court then set the hearing dates for September 9,10 and 11 when the trial will commence.

In the case, Samoei are charged with conspiring to defraud the state 2,398 bags government’s subsidized fertilizer, each 50kgs that’s worth more than 7 million.

In the case, it is alleged that Samoei obtained the said fertilizer after he fraudulently claimed to have a parcel of land measuring 300 acres for crop farming within Olololung’a sub-location in Narok County.
