Victims of the scholarship fund scandal have demanded for arrest of Governor Bii

A section of students who paid money into the Uasin Gishu Scholarship account now want the current Governor Jonathan Bii should also be held liable.

Speaking to CH News, the students say that a majority of them had paid money to the account long after former Governor Jackson Mandago had left.

N.K not her real name says she paid Sh 650,000 in October 2022 to attend a university in Canada.

She claims that the charge sheet that was produced in court during Mandago excluded those who paid after August 2022.

Another student deposited Sh 1 million I’m the same account in October last year while another student paid Sh 650,000 in January this year.

According to the charge sheet, Mandago and his accomplices conspired to steal over Sh 1 B that was deposited to the account from  

The students who have hidden their identity for fear of victimization say the new Governor has even called to assure them that their money is secure.

Most of the students were supposed to report to the universities in September this year.

Yesterday, Lawyer Danstan Omari said he has taken up the matter acting for the victims who were duped in the scam.

Omari said they will be moving to the high court to freeze Mandago’s assets so that his properties can be sold in order to pay fees for the student as soon as possible.
