Woman who impersonated a dead person at an insurance firm to get paid 3.5 M detained alongside her accomplice.

A woman who presented herself as a deceased person in order to get paid Sh 3.5 million by Britam Insurance on her behalf has been detained.

Lilian Mumbua Musyoka is alleged to have gone to Britam pretending to be the late Charity Chepkosgei Ngetich with the aim of getting paid the deceased money.

Magistrate Martha Nazushi ruled that the application by the DCI was merited and allowed police to detain the suspects for 10 more days.

According to police Musyoka presented herself as Charity who is late and she was on the company of Benard Kipchirchir Rutto who has also been detained.

It is alleged that they went to Britam Towers on February 1, 2024 and availed themselves to make a redemption of Sh 3.5 million belonging to the late Charity Chepkosgei Ngetich after Lilian pretended to be the deceased.

Police had asked court to allow them detain the two for 14 days to allow them complete investigations.
